Establishing strong partnerships with parents through regular communication is important. Key opportunities for this communication include but are not limited to:
- Celebration of achievement
- Academic concerns
- Social-emotional and/or developmental concerns
- Behaviour incidents and related consequences
The school eAlerts and Facebook account also advises parents of events, calendar information, reminders, tuckshop news, learning content and other school related information that directly relates to the parent community.
Email
Email is the most frequently used communication tool within Norfolk Village State School and allows the school to provide parents with a variety of information, in detail if needed.
Specifically for our classroom teachers, email is used to ensure parents are aware of what is happening in class.
NVSS also emails home important information such as parent-teacher interview details, report cards and event invitations for Awards Evenings and other time-critical school information.
Please be aware that initial response, acknowledgement of an email may take up to 72 hours. The time frame for further requests within an email may take more time.
Reporting to Parents
Report Cards are issued at the end of Terms 2 and 4. These are emailed home.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
Parent teacher interviews are offered in Term 1 and Term 3.
Parents & Citizens (P&C) Committee
P&C meetings are currently set for Wednesdays of each month at 9am to 10am in the Yarning Place. Parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Text Message & Push Notifications
NVSS engages the use of text message or SMS for two main purposes. The first is to manage absenteeism with parents/carers receiving a text message if their child is absent for the roll mark class. Please note, this only occurs if it is an unexplained absence; parents/carers who have followed the absentee process shouldn't receive an SMS. The second reason the school may send out an SMS is in the case of a hazardous situation (fire, threat, flooding, etc) or something specific to the school to ensure all parents are aware of what is happening.
