Hello Norfolk Village State School community! My name is Nicole Russon and I am the school's Guidance Officer. My role is to support the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of all students. I provide support and assistance to students, teachers and parents/caregivers.
The Guidance Officer role consists of the following:
- Provide counselling services to individual students or in groups.
- Facilitate social skills and emotion regulation groups and programs.
- Psychoeducational assessment and student observation.
- Recommendations and advice concerning educational, behavioural, mental health and family issues.
- Intervention programs and strategies for students.
- Liaise with community support agencies and specialists such as paediatricians and psychologists.
- Case management and referral service.
I am able to be accessed by teachers, parents and students. I am often accessed through the school's referral process. I am available five days a week and located in the administration building. If necessary, you can arrange an appointment by phone, email or in person at the office. I look forward to getting to know the NVSS community.
